Moonlight Vampire Mick Turns a Surgeon

Hey everyone. I know you all must be missing your favorite vampire, Mick played by Alex O’ Loughlin in the show Moonlight. But the good news is that you will get to see the handsome hunk again. The actor has made his comeback to the small screen with CBS’s new offering, Three Rivers where he plays a heart transplant surgeon named Dr. Andy Yablonski. It appears as though CBC didn’t want to lose this immensely popular star. The actor wishes that his fans would like his new role the same way as they praised him for his role as Mick. This role is inspired by Dr. Gonzalo “Gonzo” Gonzalez- Stawinski who is a cardiothoracic surgeon at Cleveland clinic.

In order to get into the role, O’ Loughlin spent a lot of time with this doctor and even while he was operating. This shows the actor’s commitment towards his work. He even learnt some surgical things like tying knots on gauze. He learnt this easily as the actor is also knows fishing. Personally also the actor is close to Dr. Andy as he himself is an organ donor since his teens. Due to this role he has been made the spokesperson of ‘Donate Life America’. Seems the actor is quite keen in social service. Alex also has to his credit a starring role opposite the sizzling beauty Jennifer Lopez in her upcoming movie ‘Back- up Plan’. This movie is due for a March release.

In spite of all these projects in hands, the sensational actor still misses his role as Mick in Moonlight. In a recent interview he said, “I loved Mick more than anybody”. He was quite disappointed with the show’s cancellation like all of us. But life has to go on and we’ll get to see him in a new role. After getting to know his role as a doctor more deeply the actor felt that, he should have been a doctor and has chosen a wrong profession. Imagine, with so much popularity, the actor might have had his clinic filled with patients.

Shedding some light on Moonlight

Vampires have heightened sense of smell and hearing. Some of them develop psychic powers and can glimpse into the future. Contrary to the popular belief, they are not cold blooded and even have a pulse. They can not turn into a bat to hang upside down in the ruins on any mansion. Vampires of Moonlight may cast a shadow on the big screen

Nowadays, vampire craze is on its extreme and the credit goes to productions like Twilight and True Blood. Alas! If it would have happened at the time of Moonlight

Even though Moonlight had a unique plotline, it failed to make it up to the expectations of the fans and critics also.  As a result, Moonlight went off air after the first season only, airing a total of sixteen episodes. Initially, fans hoped for some response from the creators but as time passed by, it became apparent that Moonlight would never come back.

But, as of now, a little ray of hope can be seen through the dark cloud. The executive producer Harry Werksman has given some hints about the movie version of Moonlight. In his interview, given at the awards ceremony in Burbank, California where Moonlight won a Saturn Award for Best Series on DVD, he said, “Well, we were setting up in the end of our first season that there was a coming war. There was the family from which Coraline came, and it was a royal bloodline of vampires that Mick had been brought into, very much unwanted on his part. I think what we were going to try and do is to have the movie encapsulate the entire second season of the coming war”.

Well, if the movie version comes, we all would like to see the show’s star cast portraying the respective characters. And, they all are busy with their current projects. All of the Moonlight stars have moved on so it’d be hard to make a garland of those flowers once again.  Werksman also admitted this fact in his interview but he also said that leading actor O’Loughlin has showed interest in the movie version.

As per my views, all the Moonlight stars would get some time out from their busy schedules if the creators ever plan to bring Moonlight to big screen. Though nothing is apparent yet, I am excited about Moonlight movie….. and I know, all fans of series would be feeling the same.

Is Moonlight going To be Revived!!!

Hey people! I know the question that has been baffling you for about a year now is why the successful show, Moonlight Tv Show was cancelled. Well, there is no proper answer to that, but we fans have definitely been blessed as the Sci Fi channel started re-airing all the 16 episodes of Moon light season 1 in the last week of January. Even though many people tend to disagree with fans like me, but I feel that the show presented the usually horrifying image of blood thirsty vampires in a new light. Even though the main protagonist, Mick St. John played by Alex O’Loughlin was a vampire, he acted and behaved like any other human being and quenched his thirst for blood with the help blood taken from blood banks.

But even after the show has been cancelled nearly one year back, the fans of Moonlight have not given up the hope of the show being revived, and perhaps that is what gave rise to the rumors that Sci Fi will be airing a second season of the show soon. However, according to Matt Mitovich of TV Guide, has rubbished the reports as absolutely false. So for those of you who have been hoping to see Mick and his band back in action in a brand new season, I am sorry to disappoint you.

According to reports, Moonlight is not going to be revived, at least not in the near future. With no studios interested and the contracts of all the cast and the crew having completely expired, the production of a second season has become virtually impossible at this stage. In addition, most of the main cast members are involved with different new projects and it is not possible for them to make new commitments at this stage. The picture really looks gloomy and I feel that we should accept the fact that Moonlight is not going to have any new seasons. But that will not in any way deter our love for the show and we will always remember the show for being one of the greatest entertainers for us.

‘Moonlight’ heading towards ‘Criminal Minds’

Well, let me first tell you that I intentionally wrote ‘Moonlight’ there instead of Alex O’ Loughlin, just to make everyone sure that Moonlight and Alex are complementary of each other.

Actually, the news is relevant to Alex O’Loughlin. We all know him as the hunk on “MoonLight”. The man did so well and people started recognizing him better as Mick. Earlier this year, it came into light that CBS was not into mood to let Alex, their most-loved star to go to some other show and network after the cancellation of series. As per the statements the agreement done between CBS and Alex,   a new series is under production for him. But before it premiers, they’ve decided to bring our very favorite Alex on ‘Criminal Minds’, another popular CBS series.

His role on Criminal Minds would be of a serial killer and the episode, which he’s supposed to appear on, is to be aired in April. He’s gonna appear as a guest star. It’d be his first appearance on TV after Moonlight’s cancellation. Moonlight series finale was aired on May 16, 2008 and it was entitled ‘Sonata’. So, his fans are eager to watch him, especially gals who are in love with his sexy look on ‘MoonLight’. It has been approximately one year since we last saw him and as the man would make his return on TV, it’d surely help Criminal Minds to boost up its ratings. And, it’d be amazing to watch how brilliantly he plays a dark character like he once did in the movie ‘Feed’.

During its first season, 16 Episodes were aired and it got 7 million viewers per episode. But, don’t know why CBS network didn’t bring ‘Moonlight’ back with third season. So, hey buddies… get your bowl of popcorns ready and secure your place on couch as our very sweety Alex O’Loughlin is back!

Our favorite characters of ‘Moonlight

Although it has been cancelled but we can never forget ‘Moonlight’. With its only one season, Moonlight attracted innumerous people who began campaigns after Network decided to cancel the show. Fans protested but it didn’t make the network to alter their decision. Ultimately, ‘Moonlight’ went away!

Among the major star cast of the series are Mick St. John, Beth Turner, Josef Kostan and Coraline Duvall etc. They all were very adorable and lovable characters and that’s why we still miss them. Show is not on air but Mick St. John comes to my dream with Beth and Josef. Why…… because I think about ‘Moonlight’ everyday and also watch an episode weekly.

Mick St. John was a private investigator on ‘Moonlight’. His wedding night became the life changing one for him when his bride Coraline turned him into a vampire. Ultimately, the man was forced to live like a ghost and do whatever they do. But, his decency was still there inside him so he set standards for him. He decided not to hunt women, children and innocent people. As the time went by, we saw him developing feelings for Beth but he was reluctant to admit that and the reason was his reality of being a vampire. The man made young gals crazy with his sexy look and attitude as a vampire and I think it was the best character portrayed by Alex O’Loughlin during his acting career.

And, the second character which attracted the stares of thousands of people was of Beth Turner. Sophia Myles appeared as Beth, an internet reporter. She’s the lady love of Mick. In the beginning of ‘Moonlight‘, we saw her in a relationship with Josh Lindsey, an assistant district attorney. Later, she developed a romantic relation with Mick.

And, yeah, how can I forget to describe the lady who changed Mick’s life forever. It was Coraline Duvall, Mick’s wife. It was very surprising to know that the lady was 300 years old. She returned in Mick’s life but the man never gave her second chance.

‘What’s Left Behind’ Moonlight?

Honestly, nothing is left behind the Moonlight TV show. As we all know, series is over after the first season only and the network has confirmed it that series would never be back with second season. Plotline of ‘Moonlight’ was very interesting and was sort of unique stuff but it didn’t receive good ratings which led the CBS Network to cancel the show after the first season only.

Here, my motive behind writing the above title is not to discuss what’s behind the Moonlight. Actually, I’m talking about the second last episode of first season entitled ‘What’s Left Behind’. The episode begins with Mick who discovered that WWII buddy’s grandson, Jacob, had been kidnapped and he offered his assistance to solve the matter. As he dug into the matter along with Beth, he realized that he had more connection with the missing boy than he firstly thought. Mick had an affair with the wife of WWII and we’re given some signs of Mick being his grandfather.

Next we saw that Ken Verdolino, the man who kidnapped the teenage boy, attacked Beth. Mick went to his house and saved Jacob and Ken Verdolino committed suicide during this rescue operation. Talbot offered Beth the job of a Civilian Investigator. Well, if you want to know whether or nor Mick was the grandfather of Jacob; you’ll have to watch the episode here! What I felt after watching this episode is that it was not kind of vampirism. …. Rest was okay! And for me, Mick St. John (portrayed by Alex O’Loughlin) was rocking one among the star cast …. As very usual!

We watched 16 episodes during the first season of ‘Moonlight’ and all were very good. Rating was the only one reason which sent it into the box of cancelled TV shows. Two reasons for a smile

Now, I have something for the fans of the series ‘Moonlight’, it might just not be as a good news, but still we all, and here I include the fans and lovers of the vampire series, have a reason to get back a smile on our faces, though a little one. Well, the news is that the Sci Fi Channel has decided to telecast the repeat of the show, at 9 p.m. from 23^rd January. We should always be positive and hope that soon we will get the news that the channel has decided to renew the series. And, I personally feel that the channel should do it soon, if it wants its fans to be happy.

And, now coming to the second one, on 20^th of January, the complete DVD set of the blood sucking series will be released. This set will contain four discs, which will have all the sixteen episodes of the series. But, yet there is no information if there will be any added material in the series. If that is there I am sure that will act like an additional incentive for the fans, to buy it. The fans who are dying to watch some more of the series will be pacified to some extent, by this additional information, if any is added.
