There is no denying the fact that Moonlight TV show is over for once and for all. This show, based on the book of its creator, Trevor Munson, not only enchanted viewers with its awesome story and superb acting skill, but also brought a major shift in the existing vampire mythology.
I am sure with so many popular movies like Twilight and TV shows like True Blood TV Show based on Vampires around, you all must be well aware of the myths shrouding Vampires. But Moonlight brought its own mythology that was accepted by the audience with open arms.
In Moonlight, the vampire whose bite turns a human into a vampire is called sire and it’s obligatory for him to teach the newly turned vampire how to live as one. One bite from a vampire is not enough to turn a human into vampire rather when he is near death he must drink blood of a sire.
Talking about the weapons conventionally used against vampires, then according to the Moonlight, garlic, holy water and crucifixes are completely ineffective against vampires. Silver and fire are lethal whereas Daylight only makes them progressively weaker but does not kill them. Consuming human blood is necessary for them to survive and the only sure shot way of killing them is to burn them or decapitate them. Driving a stake through the heart of a vampire would only paralyze him.
Vampires have heightened sense of smell and hearing. Some of them develop psychic powers and can glimpse into the future. Contrary to the popular belief, they are not cold blooded and even have a pulse. They can not turn into a bat to hang upside down in the ruins on any mansion. The vampires’ pointy canines are retractable - they can hide their fangs.
